May God bless them and keep them.
I don't know if you've noticed, but I placed a button at the top of my page for the victims in Christchurch. It seemed like a lovely idea, and now we are faced with the tragedy in Japan. A few years ago I remember seeing a news program where someone in another country, I don't even remember which crisis that it was now, had stated that Americans were self absorbed and do not care what happens to the rest of the world.
It stung me, as I know I care and I know that comment was not true. I was only reminded a few months ago of this attitude when I went to a cardiologist with AH. This cardiologist from a different nation decided in a very coy manor to ask AH who the prime minister of Canada was, and then who was the president of Mexico? I'm not sure how these questions were related to AH's examination but the memory and sting of that news story came back to me in an instant. Please excuse me, but for an alleged educated man...he was plain and simply an ignorant bias ass! After his questions were answered, he then saw fit to give AH a stress test that I'm happy to report came back fine. But I've digressed ....sorry.
My thought tonight was in this economy it's very difficult for average Americans to know what to do. Most do good to buy the essentials. When I was surfing the other day, I found 'Red Gingham' by Sarah of New Zealand and she offered that we in the hand made community might offer to donate a hand made item that would do nothing more than offer comfort to her countrymen. I am reminded of how many times I lament that our society isn't as thoughtful or respectful as it once was.... I am not a millionaire but I can write a kind note, a prayer, crochet a pair of slippers or a scarf, maybe a stuffie for a child.
And now Japan...which brings me to thinking a movement of the hand made community to do the same. I'm curious if any one else would be interested? Just a thought. I remember after 911 the news stories of so many from other countries who wept beside us. Not governments offering aid, or diplomats and politicians, but actual every day people like you and I. I remember the comfort of not feeling like we were alone, that someone so far away would care. The humanity of it all...
Please leave me your thoughts...in the meantime, go HERE if you would like an update on Christchurch and in the coming days as I work on my humble offerings of comfort and find out more about Japan I will post more information.

Keke, some people are terribly self absorbed but over all most are caring, loving prayer raising wonderful people. And, sometimes all we are able to do is pray ... I do believe that prayer is very rewarding, full of inspiration & that He knows how to answer each prayer.
I wrote to every single Japanese friend & client that we have, many. They were thrilled to hear from us & only 2 have not replied that were in the sadden region ... I lift them still & hope they are safe.
Your share/write is absolutely wonderful. TY
